Doing well...

Sandy has been doing great learning how to settle into home life. At first she seemed a little threatened by our two resident female greys and yelped a few times when they came into her space, but she's really become very tolerant with them since then. She also really didn't like being crated the first few days, showing some symptoms of separation anxiety. Now she'll go in with no problem when we say "crate," and doesn't seem nervous or anxious, although we still think she prefers being out of it and in the room with us.

She didn't know what to think of the snow at first, but she's gotten used to the lingering snow in the yard. She had a couple indoor accidents in the first few days but has had none since. So we're certain she's learned the concept of doing business outdoors.

Her personality has really come out in the last few days. She's still very inquisitive but has also shown to be very sweet. If she's standing and you're petting her, she'll start to lean into you. If you stop, she'll nuzzle your hand. And if you walk away, she'll follow you, still trying to lean into you. Very adorable.

Overall, we think she's learning very fast and seems to be very adaptable. Her initial problems are very typical and expected from a dog who has known nothing but her life as a racer. We have no doubt she'll be able to find the perfect home!

Here are a few pictures. I've also taken some video, so if I get time to edit it, I'll also post that here.

This is her favorite bed in the living room…
